Michael and I are big road-trippers. Not necessary cross country treks, but a good 5 hour drive is not uncommon. Over the years I’ve learned something very important about myself. If I wait too long in between snacks I can very quickly become a cracky, hot mess. This weekend we drove to NYC and I packed an arsenal of sweet and savory snacks to accommodate all craving scenarios.
Cheese – Mini Babybels are a hangry girl’s best friend
Dried fruit – I try to find brands without added sugar; apricots and cherries are my favorite
Raw veggies – I love sliced red peppers, baby carrots and sugar snap peas
Fresh fruit – whatever looks good at the market – apples, blueberries, clementines, grapes or plums
Fruit Snacks – these Abound bars from CVS are my new jam
Nuts – roasted unsalted almonds are a fave
Chocolate – You could probably bribe your way out of a speeding ticket with this Lake Champlain Dark Chocolate Maple Caramel Bar
Potato Chips – Michael loves Kettle Brand Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper
KIND Bars – Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio + Antioxidants is my go-to.
Sandwiches – You can’t go wrong with roasted turkey, cheddar, mixed greens and hummus on whole wheat
Beverages – Water and Sanpellegrino
If you have time, grab some straws, paper towels, napkins, plastic utensils, resealable bags, a larger bag for collecting wrappers and orange peels, hand wipes and hand sanitizer.
