After a Passover-Easter weekend spent indulging in brisket, chopped liver, wine and pastel colored M&M’s, I decided to try the Suja Essentials 1-Day Renewal. I’ve wanted to try this cleanse-style program since January, but it’s available exclusively at Target and it took a while before the juices made their way to the greater-Boston area.
This seemed like a good foray into the cleanse-arena as the ‘hydration and whole food centered’ plan includes 3 cold-pressured beverages and 3 supplemental snacks and/or meals throughout the course of the day.
I loved the juices – the Sunset Protein was my favorite.

Organic Sunset Protein (Step 3)
Almond milk, banana, coconut sugar, pea protein, hemp protein, vanilla, cinnamon and allspice

The snacks were great and right up my alley. Avocado and egg in the morning on my favorite rice & quinoa cakes, zucchini noodles and pesto for lunch and roasted salmon with arugula for dinner. I also made sure to drink lots of water throughout the day.
I did yoga in the morning and never felt hungry or sluggish. I developed a bit of a headache towards the end of the afternoon, which I attributed to lack of caffeine (no coffee!).
You can find the recipes here – the raw vegan pesto was surprisingly delicious.
I definitely enjoyed this experiment and if you’re exploring a short juice-cleanse, I recommend giving this one a try.
