Remember last week when I mentioned sipping lemonade and blueberry vodka up at Lucerne Lake? Here’s the scoop. This little sipper tastes like Summer in a glass. It’s also very versatile – you can dress it up or dress it down. Grab some solo cups for a day at the beach or serve in cute jam jars at your next outdoor get together. You could also serve a non-alcoholic version at your lemonade stand and really impress the neighbors. It’s sweet, tart, refreshing and perfect for cooling down on a hot day.
Lake Life Lemonade
For the Blueberry Simple Syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh blueberries, lightly crushed
Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and immediately add blueberries, being careful not to splash the hot liquid. Let cool to room temperature. Strain simple syrup into a glass bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
For the Lake Life Cocktail
1/2 – 1 tbsp blueberry simple syrup (depending upon your sweetness preference)
2 oz. blueberry vodka (I used Cold River)
5 oz. tart lemonade (make your own or choose your favorite brand)
Fill glass with crushed ice, add simple syrup, add vodka and top with lemonade. Stir and garnish with blueberries.
